AXLE = The Association of ex-lotus employees
Hello, AXLE members. Hope your summer was a lovely one. Here is an update on what we've been up to with AXLE, www.axle.org, and some news about our Fall reunion. First--an ad from Garage Technology Ventures, our exclusive Fall event sponsor: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Garage Technology Ventures, formerly Garage.com, is a venture capital investment bank that provides private placement services for high technology companies and investors. Garage serves companies in the telecommunications, semiconductors, infrastructure, software, and wireless sectors that seek to raise between $2 million and $10 million in a first or second institutional financing round. Since 1999, Garage has completed 77 transactions raising over $285 million in venture capital for clients. Garage Technology Ventures is also the producer of the acclaimed conference series Bootcamp for Startups and Bootcamp for Lawyers. Visit www.garage.com for more information. Garage is pleased to welcome Jon Chait, Lotus alumnus 1984-1994, who joins Dan Roach in Garage's Waltham, MA office. Jon and Dan look forward to meeting you on September 25. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Back to the news: Welcome, New Members Membership in AXLE has surpassed 2080 members! Who would have thought we'd ever hit that number? Recent additions include: Scott Weinstein, Kate Elkind and Mary Perella! We know there are many more people out there. If you know people who are interested, please add them to the database or ask them to visit the site. Events Update Our next East Coast AXLE event will be at the Papparazzi's on Route 16 in Wellesley, MA. It takes place on Tuesday, September, 25th from 6-9 PM. Now - we kept hearing that you people in the burbs had a hard time making it into the city, so we moved the party out of Cambridge for you. We are expecting a big, burb turnout! Wear your favorite old Lotus apparel and come join your old co-workers for some drinks and apps. Believe it or not - we've got some old boxes of photos from the Lotus early days to look through. (Can you believe that IBM didn't want them?) This reunion should be lots of good networking and fun! Want your old office back? LDB is for rent. It looks like the 9th floor is going to stay with IBM, but the rest of the building is up for grabs. For those of you looking for space these days, follow this link for more information: http://www.m-g.com/55cambridgepkwy/. In Memory of Mike Kleinert Shane Kleinert is looking for information on his dad. Michael Kleinert worked at Lotus in the 1980's up until 1990, when he died. His son, Shane, is looking for information from people who may have worked with him at Lotus. If you'd like to get in touch with Shane, his email address is bigdawg08@home.com. He'd love to hear from you with any memories you have of his dad. Update, Update, Update! Don't forget to update your member profile. Moved? Changed jobs? Stay involved. Stay current! Also, have you noticed anyone missing? Help keep AXLE vibrant and growing. Go to the "Who Are We Missing?" on the directory page and share a lead. That's all for now, Carole Gunst, Jason Lee, Reed Sturtevant, & Chris Wraight -----------------------------------------------------------------------
